A Brief History of Silver
Silver has been used medically since the dawn of time. Herodotus, the father of history, once said that no king or noble would drink water that was not stored in silver containers. Hippocrates even used silver for the treatment of ulcers as well as the promotion of wound healing. In 980 A.D. silver fillings were commonly used to help prevent heart palpitations and ward off bad breath. The ancients used silver internally and externally. A practice that still continues to this day; nearly every civilization all the way up until World War II preserved liquids in silver lined containers. Silver has been proven to be far more effective than modern antibiotics and is gaining exponential ground in the medical field of the modern world. Do you have colloidal silver stored for the next cold or “common flu”?
The truth behind the colors of colloidal silver
What is a nanometer? A nanometer is one-billionth of a meter. To give you some perspective, an average blood cell in your body is 4000 nanometers in size. Rather large compared to these tiny particles.
Here are the various colors for Colloidal Silver:
- Clear Colloidal Silver – Particles as small as .1 nanometers up to 40 nanometers
- Yellow Colloidal Silver – Particles larger than 40 nanometers and up to 120 nanometers
- Amber Colloidal Silver – Particles 120 nanometers and larger up to 370 nanometers
- Brown Colloidal Silver – Particles 370 nanometers up to 1100 nanometers
- Black Colloidal Silver – Particles 1100 nanometers and larger
Why is particle size so important with colloidal supplements?
A virus will display a wide diversity of shapes and sizes, called morphologies. Viruses are much smaller than bacteria. Most viruses have a diameter as small as 20 to 300 nanometers in size. In order for colloidal silver to be effective at eliminating these pathogens, the particle size of the silver must be smaller than the virus to enter. To put it simply, larger particles simply don’t work.
Colloidal Silver Treatments
Colloidal silver has been know to be used to treat infections due to:
- Bacteria (tuberculosis, Lyme disease, bubonic plague, pneumonia, leprosy, gonorrhea, syphilis, scarlet fever, stomach ulcers, cholera)
- Parasites (ringworm, malaria)
- Viruses (HIV/AIDS, pneumonia, herpes, shingles, warts)
Colloidal silver is also used for lung conditions including emphysema and bronchitis; skin conditions including rosacea, cradle cap (atopic dermatitis), eczema, impetigo, and psoriasis; and inflammation (sometimes due to infection) of the bladder (cystitis), prostate (prostatitis), colon (colitis), nose (rhinitis), stomach (gastritis), tonsils (tonsillitis), appendix (appendicitis), and sinuses (sinusitis).
Other uses include treatment of cancer, diabetes, arthritis, lupus, chronic fatigue syndrome, leukemia, hay fever and other allergies, trench foot, and gum disease.
Colloidal silver is used to prevent flu, H1N1 (swine) flu, and the common cold.
Some women take colloidal silver during pregnancy to aid the baby’s growth and health as well as the mother’s delivery and recovery.
Colloidal silver is also applied directly to the skin for acne, burns, eye infections, fungal infections, throat infections, skin infections, and Staphylococcus infections.
